Lost in Halle

19243615_1893037957602171_1411712650_oAt a really special Manilla Road gig the day before yesterday in the fortress of Halle (Turm). It was my 5th time seeing them but never with such an atmosphere and intimacy at a smaller venue as yesterday, with the band constantly smoking weed on stage they were handed over from the fans. I guess they were just enjoying the fact that they could play anything they already wanted to for a long time including not-that-known songs filled with those mindblowing guitar-parts from “The Shark” having sex with his instrument on stage, as we were buying everything. No need to say the hit-row from Crystal Logic hit harder at the end like this than ever :)

Living in the pupil of 1000 eyes

Finally have time again so I decided to design some things for my new room. Making a wallpainting came in mind, then how much I love the eye motive on album covers, then how difficult it would be to try painting Morbus Chron`s artwork Sleepers in the Rift, so at the end I went with Symbolic which is among my fave Death albums and was a pioneer for me in many ways. Worked a lot on it but finally it turned out striking, happy :)

Announcements and announcements

Reasons for not being active pt. #a lot.

So dear everyone, first of all I would like to apologize for being completely passive when it came to posting in the last months. The main thing is that at the beginning of April I moved from Budapest, Hungary to Leipzig, Germany and as you can imagine unfortunately the main point before my eyes was not moving forward with my blog and getting stuff in connection with my hobbies done but adjusting to a different country and doing all the administration required for it, trying to get used to my new job, new language and all the people I keep getting to know day by day. I kind of would be able to feel settled already but I just moved again into another apartment with some of my friends inside Leipzig so I don’t – also what makes the whole thing harder is that I’m doing a night job and even though I do enjoy it (just like everything else) so far, I definitely have to practice a lot of time management in case I even wanna have social life or get any stuff done, let that be administration or handling anything I care about, including reviews/interviews.

Being happy in Leipzig. Such a perfect city

I do have a feeling that this will change soon tho, as I feel like writing stuff again already especially becaaaause…:

The first issue of Metalegion Magazine I’ve been doing interviews for in 2014-15 is finally out and available for free download, featuring my interviews made with John & Donald Tardy from Obituary, Bobby Blitz from Overkill, Andreas “Gerre” Geremia from Tankard and Marc Grewe from ex-Morgoth along with a few reviews written under the name of Estelle. HERE you can find it – in case you like what you read & see, I would be happy about having the word spread. :)

I also got a few more names already with whom I will surely do an interview as we are planning the 2nd edition of the magazine: Sodom, Running Wild and Destruction, plus a lot of more band and festival ideas among which a lot will probably be sorted out. Couldn’t be more excited. :D

Soo hopefully I won’t disappear for months again and will be able to put some energy in writing, I love doing it and wouldn’t like seeing something I’ve done slipping away. :) Until then!

Reflections of our yesterdays

Thought I’d share one of my all time favorite lyrics with you. (No feeling can be compared to the one I got while Dreamweaver is spinning on the turntable, I’m leisurely sitting on my bed and browsing over the magical lyric-book of the album.)

Sabbat – The Best of Enemies

Oh instrument of God force –
Fed on ignorance and lies,
So blind and narrow-minded
That you cannot compromise.
Even the most foolish thief
Should know what he is taking –
Lest he find himself within a
Cage of his own making.
The Ways of Wyrd are many and
Our path you must decide,
For the secrets that you seek
Are all around you –
Use your eyes.
The threads cannot be broken
That have brought you here to me –
And bind two foes together
Like the best of enemies.

You gaze upon me –
I can tell what you see,
A simple man
With simple thoughts and
Simple needs.
Superstition –
Preying on a mind filled with fear,
Opposition-
To all your ‘enlightened’ ideas.
Yet I will show you more than
You can comprehend,
Beware delusion is a
Dangerous friend.

Ask loaded questions seeking
Knowledge of a faith that
You wish to pervert –
All our values,
With hidden meanings
You try concealing your
Underlying wish to convert –
‘heathen’ souls,
To a faith that will doubtless
Send our gods to the grave –
Mistake you’re making overlooking
The fact that we might not want
To be ‘saved’.

[THE SORCERERS CREED:]
Fear is an old friend of mine,
We have met many times before.
(Drawn to these spirits like
Moths to a flame –
When there is no risk then
There can be no gain).
Death is a harsh fact of life
You cannot avoid or ignore.

The Life-force is as strong in
You as it is strong in me,
The difference is what you
Hold captive I set free.
You seek to subjugate all
Those who won’t comply,
I’ll take your prejudice and
Pride and show you why –
The values that you hold so dear
(all your laws and rules),
They hold no more sway here
Than the mutterings of fools.
Just look about you and
I’m sure that you will find –
Heaven lies within our hearts
And Hell is but a figment of
Your mind.

These teachings that you deem so
Sacred bcome words devoid of meaning,
When compared unto a faith that
Preaches something worth believing.
What is to become of us when
Truth is turned to lies,
Will none remain to wipe the tears
When Mother Nature cries?

Proceed with caution –
Subservient to all you survey,
Hidden dangers await us on
Each step of our way.
Do not falter –
For if you do you will fall,
Prey unto perils far worse
Than you’ve encountered before.
Compared unto the threats we face
Your devil seems so mild,
A relic from the faerie-tales my
Mother told me as a child.

Why do you carry your God
Like a weapon –
A dagger drawn ready to strike
At the heart of a foe when you
Don’t really know the reason
That you fight? –
To replace our disgrace with
The ‘loving’ embrace of your Lord –
Can’t you see that the plans
Made for me and my people
To us seem absurd?

[THE SORCERERS CREED:]
Death is the only recourse
I require in my hour of need.
(Drawn to the spirits like
Moths to a flame –
When there is no risk then
There can be no gain).
Impassive it shows no remorse
For folly and greed.

Pre-emptive prejudice has
Dogmatised your life,
These blinkered views that once
Held true will no longer suffice.
For in my world there is no point
Where you can draw the line,
‘twixt good and evil,
Saint and sinner,
Damnate and divine.
Shaven-headed servant of
An infantile faith –
By what right do you presume
To come and try to take my place?
If there is one grain of truth
Amidst your hoard of lies, ’tis
“Love your neighbour as yourself”
With this alone I can abide.

These teachings that you deem so
Sacred become words devoid of meaning,
When compared unto a faith that
Preaches something worth believing.
What is to become of us when
Truth is turned to lies,
Will none remain to wipe the tears
When Mother Nature cries?

[THE WAY OF THE WARRIOR]
When living your life
Like an arrow in flight
You must always accept that
The end is in sight,
Be grateful at least for the fact
That you knew: you came to death –
He did not come for you.
You are like targets
Who sit and await –
Patiently suffer
The arrows of fate,
Saying “I am but mortal
And destined to die –
I can change nothing
So why should I try?”

Each morning you wake is an
’ember day’ dawning,
Your penance for living in
Permanent mourning.
By erstwhile ideals your
Hearts are enslaved,
You crawl out of the cradle
Straight into the grave.
What reward is a banquet
Of red wine and bread,
When you hunger for life –
But on death you are fed?

Do not underestimate
The task you undertake,
Overcome your hopes and fears
And meet them face to fate.
These spirits aren’t your enemies
But neither are they friends,
Do not dare insult them lest
All nature you offend.
They who were here before us
Will remain when we have gone,
And though we’re long forgotten
Still their memory will live on.
Perhaps one day mankind will see
The error of its ways,
And in its future glimpse
Reflections of our yesterdays.

Brutal Assault 2014

So we went to BA 2014 and it was simply awesome, this is close to being my best summer for years now!
I was lucky enough to have a press pass, I did an interview with John Tardy of Obituary, I would have done one with Martin Van Drunen as well but unfortunately Hail of Bullets cancelled their signing session and my interview with it too. I was also extremely lucky so I could quickly do a pic with master Cronos and the others from Venom. We stood in the 4th row at their show and they KILLED, I also went to the pit for a few songs and got a scar that still hurts :D
I was in the pit on Onslaught as well, have to say I couldn’t get out from there without scars either (yeah I’m such a rebel, wow :D) but it was for sure worth it. Sodom, Obituary and Unleashed were the three other highlights for me, we were in the 2nd-3rd row on all three, crazy crowd, great atmosphere, awesome shows!

This is all for now, here are some random pics, I’ll also post an extensive festival review later [read it here], along with the Tardy-interview [here] and another large interview which is for now a secret :D Take care!

“Pure fucking metal-hitchhiking over 400km”

So, there was a Nunslaughter-Demonical-Warfect gig on the 17th of July in Graz, me and my friend were planning to go there for a month, we just couldn’t find anyone with a car isn’t full going there. We were searching for weeks but then we said “okay fuck it” and decided to go by hitchhiking, so we actually got there from Budapest within 7 hours for free. Everyone was stoked by us going there so randomly, since we got there really early we could get to know the band members of Nunslaughter and Demonical, they said we were their guests and they gave us tons of stuff as gifts. The show was brutal, actually one of the bests I’ve seen, soo I’d say, for about 10 Euros in total the trip was really fucking worth it! :D

One week full of chocolate

I just came home from the Benelux where I went for one week with my school, it was awesome! We saw Brussels, Amsterdam (well we only spent a day here and didn’t have any free time unfortunately :D), Ghent, Bruges and Luxembourg. Since we had our housing in a little town in Belgium and had to go there every evening with the others, we couldn’t get to any of the pubs I checked at Metal Travel Guide before – but well doesn’t matter, had a great time anyways. I found an amazing record store in Brussels and bought Sabbat’s first record, didn’t have more than 3 minutes to search among the records but seeing the wide selection of the shop I’ll be sure to go back sometime!

With the Skull Fist guys

skullf

Me with Jonny and Jackie from Skull Fist after their show here in February, + Barry from Vanderbuyst in the grandma-sweater. I tried to do an interview with them but since 1. they’re just completely crazy 2. we were all quite drunk, it turned out to be a total chaos :D There wasn’t one single useful sentence during the interview, I also asked total stupid things at the end so it was funny, seeing this interview I wasn’t really expecting anything else though: the funniest interview of 2013

Some kind of an introduction

Hello everyone, I’m a 18-year-old girl from Hungary who is in love mostly with ’80s thrash and old school death metal, also with speed, death/thrash, black/thrash and heavy metal. My favourite bands surely include Kreator, Sodom, Death, Morbid Saint, Demolition Hammer, Slayer, Exciter and Obituary.

I really like beer, bad jokes, irony, gigs, films, collecting records, morning coffee, walking and last but not least writing – I write reviews about metal albums and I also do interviews with band members if I have the opportunity to do so. Before I started this little site I was writing for a webzine but it wasn’t really big either, actually I think I can say I only do this whole thing as a hobby, and because I love doing it. I’m not sure yet if I have plans with it in the future, time will tell.

I don’t really know what more to say, I will continuously put some pictures, memories, reviews, interviews or other simple writings mostly about music up, but don’t expect much, I’m not doing that either. :D

Take care!
